In What ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of

a real media product ?

Our music video has used a lot of conventions known in music videos, for example we used a variety or narrative and performance, the performance takes up most of the video and includes the main male artist and the female singing to the camera. This is a convention used in most music vidoes, it is coupled with a short narrative that relates to the lyrics of the song, this acording to Goodwin is one of the things that make music videos 'good'.

The lyrics tell a story of someone who works a meaningless nine to five job and is fustrated with their life and work, we reflect that in our video by having the narrative show a man dressed in a suit and in a work enviroment (shown with the white board and desk) getting increasingly frustrated.

These pictures show the look of the mis-en-scene and costume during the narrative bits. The surrounding environment and background is black because we were going for a minimalistic look, we wanted to create a boring looking scene that represented an office job and we wanted the viewer to focus on the artist. The props ensured that the viewer knew what the scene was meant to be potraying (the man is at his office, doing a presentation and doing office things) without distracting them with unnecessary backgrounds.

Narrative and Performance

These pictures show some of the locations and mis-en-scene for the performances. We used genre conventions to create a certain look for the artist

When making my Digipak artwork I made sure to research other artists artworks and digipaks, this helped me understand the rules and conventions of such products.

The pictures below are the back covers of two albums, on the left is the back cover i made for my artist and on the right is eminems. You can see similarities, like the barcodes on both covers and the
